"The struggle you're In today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow"
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of California and have accumulated over 15 years of experience in the field. My experiences include treating diverse individuals and helping families from all walks of life presenting with a range of issues. I am skilled in working with children, teens, and adults experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, stress management, grief/loss, in working with learning/educational issues, and life transitions.
While the majority of my experiences have been while living in the United States, I have also lived in many countries including, Malaysia, Singapore, and India. With that, I bring with me the sensitivity and understanding of many cultures and the role it plays in our lives. I work with adults, individuals, teens, and families to enhance their quality of life through education, empowerment, and partnership.
There are various reasons one seeks therapy. Change and Support are the two most common reasons for counseling. People who come in are generally seeking a better understanding of their struggles and to develop coping strategies that work for them during trying times.
Parenting is a complex process of supporting the physical, emotional, social, financial and intellectual development of a child to an adult. People who seek support here may just need guidance through this process.
Communication is a core characterisitc of our relationships . We sometimes define ourselves by our relationships but these relationships aren't always easy. I can offer support to identify these maladaptive interactions and strive to improve this interaction
Payal works with adults, individuals, teens, and families to enhance their quality of life through education, empowerment, and partnership.
When working with young children, Payal uses play therapy. Play is a child’s natural means of expression and helps children communicate their feelings more easily through their interaction and reactions with toys/games instead of words.
Her approach to treatment is practical, collaborative and solution focused. Treatment is tailored to the uniqueness of the client so as to foster the best possible outcome for the situation.
Payal utilizes a wide variety of techniques including cognitive-behavioral, play therapy, mindfulness, and solution focused techniques.
